Gift ideas for your boss
The right gift for your boss is a flower arrangement that sits in their office or chocolate the whole department opens, with the team's name on the card, because it should come from the team and go to the office, not the home. For a farewell, a promotion or a birthday the gift grows a little, and the ideas here are grouped by occasion, with what does not suit. If nobody on the team knows the manager's taste, Haddiyah lets you put forward 2 to 8 of the gifts for colleagues on one budget; the manager picks one, never sees prices and sets the office location and slot from a link, and delivery is in Riyadh and Jeddah.
Boss's Day, 16 October: one gift from the whole team
Boss's Day falls on 16 October every year, and the gift comes from the whole team, not one person: a flower vase that sits in their office, or flowers with chocolate the department opens, signed with the department's name. If 16 October falls on a weekend, send it on the last working day before it; the manager sets the office location and slot from the link. See gifts for colleagues.
An arrangement for their office
The safest gift for a manager is a flower arrangement or a simple vase that sits in their office for days and is seen by everyone who walks in. Calm colours suit better than soft pink. See flower vases and gifts for colleagues.
Chocolate opened for the department
For a gift that embarrasses no one: a box of chocolate or sweets the manager opens for the whole department. It suits their birthday, Eid and thanks for a year. See chocolate and sweets, and order the size that covers the department.
The manager's promotion
When the manager is promoted, the team congratulates them with a larger arrangement delivered to the new office in the morning, signed by the department. See congratulations gifts for colleagues.
The manager's farewell
A farewell gift from the team is bigger than any other: a large arrangement or a perfume from a known house, with a card naming something specific you learned from them. Time it for the morning of their final day. See thank-you gifts for colleagues.
The manager's birthday
A manager's birthday gift is light and from everyone: a cake cut in the office, or a small vase, with the card from the team. See birthday gifts for colleagues.
Before you send
- Sign the card as the team or the department, never with the names of the people who paid. A gift from the group puts no one on the spot.
- Pick the morning window so it lands during office hours; the manager fixes the office location from the link.
- Jewelry and personal perfume are too much for a manager, unless it is a farewell gift from a team that has known them for years. An arrangement and chocolate are safer.
- If the manager is a woman, the same rules apply: an arrangement for the office or chocolate for the department, with the card from the team.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best gift for my manager?
A flower arrangement or a simple vase for their office, or a box of chocolate opened for the department. When the whole team gives it on a big occasion, a perfume from a known house.
Do I give my manager a gift alone or with the team?
With the team, in every case. An individual gift to a manager is awkward for both sides, unless it is thanks for something specific they did for you.
What do I give my manager as a farewell?
A farewell gift from the team is bigger: a large arrangement or a perfume, with a card that names something specific you learned from them. See thank-you gifts for colleagues.
Can it reach the office the same day?
Yes for a single gift when the manager sets the location before 4 pm; and for an office delivery the morning window is the one to pick. Some gifts need longer to prepare. The time is on each gift page.
When is Boss's Day?
Boss's Day is on 16 October every year. The gift comes from the whole team to the office; if it falls on a weekend, send it on the last working day before it.
